Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Qian got her bachelor degree in 1985 and master degree in 1988 from Southeast University. After getting her master degree, she started her PhD research in Nanjing Tech University in the same year. Her supervisor was Prof. Mingshu Tang, who is an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). In 1992, Prof. Qian received her Ph.D. degree.

From May of 1995 to February of 1996, Prof. Qian visited Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University in Australia as a high level scholar. She was a postdoc fellow in Delft University of Technology from Jan, 1998 to Mar, 1999. She also went to U.S. as a visiting scholar for short periods both in 2001 and 2004.

From 1991 till now Prof. Qian works in Southeast University. She gives lectures “Gelmaterials” to undergraduate students, “State of the art on material research” and “Microbial technology of materials” to postgraduate students. She has been a full professor since 1997 and was appointed as a PhD supervisor in 2000. From 1996 to 2002, Prof. Qian was associate director of section of Material Scienceand Engineering in Southeast University and now she is the director of Green Building Materials Lab in Southeast University. Prof. Qian was supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University (a program of Chinese Ministry of Education), by 333 Program for Technological Leading Talents (aprogram of Jiangsu Province) and by 6 Major Industrial Program for High Level Talents (a program of Jiangsu Province).

Prof. Qian is a member of editorial board of journal of Cement and Concrete research. She acts as vice president of Jiangsu Ceramic Society, a member of Building Material Counsel of Architectural Society of China, vice president of High Performance Concrete Technical Committee of China Ceramic Society, a member of both High Strength and High Performance Concrete Technical Committee and Fiber Concrete Technical Committee of China Civil Engineering Society.

Recently, with support from national funding and provincial founding, Prof. Qian was leading a research program titled as “Development and Application of Innovative Materialsand Technologies to Prevent Concrete from Cracking at Different Curing Age”, by combining huge construction projects of bridge, tunnel, airport and subway etc. in China. This research program meets the requirements from the fast traffic system and city development in China. Microbial technology, one of the major results of this research, leads a new subject direction in civil engineering in China. The innovative results of this research program have been successfully applied in the constructions of national infrastructures, such as Nanjing Lukou international airport, Nanjing Yangzi River tunnel, Nanjing Xuanwu Lake tunnel, Nanjing Jiuhuasan tunnel, Suzhou Dushuhu tunnel, Wuxi Lihu tunnel, AnqingYangzi River bridge, Sutong Yangzi River bridge, Nanjing Yangzi River bridge and Nanjing subway etc. and save large amount of money for Chinese government. More than 10 of these results have been identified, by China Ministry of Science andTechnology or other Chinese government departments, as in the leading level in China and some even worldwide. This research program, leaded by Prof. Qian, was awarded the Second Prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress in 2013 and the First Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress from China Ministry of Education in 2012.

Inaddition, Prof. Qian leaded projects that were awarded the Second Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress from Jiangsu Province in 2010, the Third Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress from Jiangsu Province in 2006 and 2007, the Third Prize of Huaxia Construction Science and Technology from China Ministry of Construction in 2006 and the Second Prize of Science and Technology from China Highway and Transportation Society, China Ministry of Transportation, in 2006. Prof. Qian also participated projects that were awarded the Second Prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress in 2014 and 2007, the First Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress from Beijing in 2014, the First Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress from Jiangsu Province in 2006.

By now Prof. Qian has more than 30 inventions that are patented and has published 6 books and more than 200 journal articles and conference papers. She has established good cooperative relationship with Cambridge University, California University, Delft University of Technology, Ghent University, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, Iowa State University of Science and Technology and Sika Tech Co, etc.

(6) Project of Doctoral Fund of Ministry of Education: Mechanism of Self-healing in Concrete Based on Bacteria.
